Training can begin as early as eight weeks old. Starting early helps prevent many unwanted behaviors before they become habits.
Absolutely not.
Dogs of any age can learn with the right training approach. While it’s true that teaching a puppy new behaviors is easier, it’s definitely not impossible for older dogs to learn new tricks aka behaviors. We’ve trained dogs as old as 11 years, and my own dog didn’t start agility training until he was 9.
Treats can be an excellent training tool, but our goal is reliable obedience built through communication, consistency, and reinforcement...not lifelong dependence on food.
