IGP Training Group

IGP, previously known as IPO or Schutzhund, is a 3-phased sport that includes tracking, obedience, and protection…
IGP, a dynamic and captivating sport originating from Germany, takes the bond between a dog and its handler to new heights. Known for its rigorous training techniques and its emphasis on a dog's aptitude for protection, obedience, and tracking, Schutzhund is an exhilarating journey of dedication and partnership that unleashes the true potential of both human and canine.

Expectations of Members…

Our IGP training group is a small group of individuals who donate their time, bodies, and knowledge to help bring awareness to the sport and ignite a passion that was ignited in them when they first started. We do this for the love of the dog, the sport, and training. We are open to everyone who shares the same enthusiasm and commitment. Here is what we expect from team members….

Please note this is not for pet dog training or personal protection dog training.

To be a member of our group, you need to be a dedicated dog owner who is highly motivated to achieve training goals with your dog and is driven to be a team player. Showing up regularly, volunteering to help, and having an open and inquisitive mind will not only benefit you but also the team. This is not a group where we will train the dog for you - you train your dog with us as we help each other progress in our individual training goals.

FAQs

  • We stand as one of the most established dog training businesses along the Crystal Coast.

Many are unaware that dog training is a non-regulated industry. Anyone could decide to become a dog trainer overnight, and this is a common occurrence in our region. This not only does a disservice to you but also to your dog, as poor training can exacerbate behavioral issues.

At Wild Child, we pride ourselves on being certified and insured. We're affiliated with major organizations like the American Kennel Club, International Association of Canine Professionals, and the Better Business Bureau.

Our extensive experience and specialized knowledge in canine behavior distinguish us from others, and we have tangible evidence to back it up. Sydney has earned titles with numerous dogs, rehabilitated dogs nationwide, instructed other dog trainers/handlers aiding in their personal and professional achievements, and served on the board of the local kennel club.

Furthermore, Sydney is committed to continuous learning, attending workshops, seminars, and university courses annually. This dedication ensures we stay abreast of the latest ideologies, theories, and techniques to enhance your dog's well-being and happiness, because ultimately, our goal is for everyone to realize their greatest potential.

  • Training begins by prioritizing your dog's well-being. Just like humans, a dog's behavior and feelings are influenced by their nutrition, sleep, and exercise. Similarly, their sense of security and affection affects their performance.

Therefore, the initial step in our training process is to establish a relationship with your dog. We focus on building trust, discovering their preferences, and engaging with them actively.

After forming a strong bond and reaching an understanding, we proceed with their training program, which may include leash training or addressing more complex behaviors like anxiety. This phase involves your participation, as we instruct and support you in becoming the best pet parent possible.

Once your dog has developed new habits and you are confident in managing them, we organize a graduation lesson. Completing training with us grants you lifetime support, all necessary training equipment, invitations to our monthly gatherings, and exclusive access to our boarding services for clients.

Our skilled dog trainers assist dog owners through private sessions, group classes, and board-and-train programs. We actively support local shelters in Onslow, Craven, and Carteret Counties and collaborate with local veterinarians, educational institutions, and boarding facilities to educate and disseminate information on fundamental dog care, handling, and training.

  • We provide in-house payment plans exclusively for board and train services. Additionally, we offer a discount to clients who pay in full for their training prior to their dog's departure.

  • Dogs undergoing training with us reside either in our home or kennel, tailored to their individual needs and the final training goals. The cornerstone of training with us is establishing an ideal learning environment for your dog. Such an environment enables your dog to unwind, feel secure, and improve their learning retention. This ensures peak performance and enduring learning, facilitating a smooth transition during the proofing phase of their training, where adapting to various environments and contexts becomes effortless for your dog.

    • Dogs are housed indoors within temperature-controlled environment.

    • Training sessions for dogs occur intermittently from dawn until long after dusk, mirroring their potential home routine.

    • You will receive regular updates on your dog's progress in your preferred communication method (text, email, social media, etc.), ensuring seamless collaboration throughout your dog's training period with us.

  • Your dog during their stay with us will receive a solid foundation of training in the areas you request and based off of your dog’s needs and your physical ability. During your dog’s stay we highly encourage owners to participate in lessons so not only can you visit, but we can break down training in smaller segments for you.
